Prior an oil pastel was on the Art Gallery of Ontario site for three months from March to June 2021. Acceptance in McMaster University ” Art In the Workplace” Exhibition 35.
Focus of practice: on the commissioned works. I have created 16 large commissioned works since retiring from Chiropractic in 2018
Public art installations: Previously applied for park seating and transformer designs with the City of Burlington. One of 50 artists accepted for Joseph Brant Memorial Hospital Foundation leaf for an outdoor installation project. Also designing soup bowls for the Art Gallery of Burlington “Soup Bowl” charity fundraiser in November 2021 and October 2022
Memberships: Burlington Fine Arts Association including on the Executive Committee for 2 years with signing authority, and The Oakville Art Society. I created my own website (from Word Press), Instagram and Facebook accounts and manage them.
Artistic Activities: I regularly attend meetings with the Burlington Fine Arts Association, and prior to COVID attended the studio sessions at the Art Gallery of Burlington two to three times a week and will resume when restrictions ease. I also am involved with two different Plein Air Groups one with a focus on Dundas and the other Oakville and attend those about six times a month including all winter. I also regularly take on line and in person lessons. I have converted the family room to a large in house studio with good art supplies and lighting.
Everything that you see in your life has the mark of art in it whether by nature or human. I feel that when I create art, I am creating an expression of a part of me with inspiration from the things that I see and interpret. Presently my primary media is acrylic paint.
I was a Doctor of Chiropractic for almost 45 years. I do not feel that I am at the end of this new journey but rather at the beginning. I am enjoying the journey creating art for art’s sake.
