For about two months I vagabonded through marvellous and pristine landscapes in one of the less inhabited areas in Europe, exploring its most recessed corners and getting inspired and struck by the magic shades of light that can be only found at certain latitudes.
The result is a photographic project on the road, a collection of over 70 pure landscape photos of the "arctic" places I visited.
The images in this collection will be also part of a short narration I'm working on titled "Viaggio nel Cosmos – Immagini e parole tra il 66° e il 71° parallelo" (The Cosmos Travels - Images and words between the 61st and the 71st parallel).
TROMS OG FINNMARK #13 is a preview from the upcoming project “Viaggio nel Cosmos”.
This shot was taken on the Island Vardø in Norway and portrays a work of land art evocatively named Drakkar Leviathan.
The work echoes with stories of sea and Viking ships that once sailed it, in a sort of hymn to the Arctic and to the extreme nature of northern Europe.
I was lucky to portrayed it during a restless afternoon when threatening clouds full of rain were torn briefly by timid sunrays which unravelled a magnific rainbow just behind the subject.
TROMS OG FINNMARK #13 – Limited Edition of 50 - Certificate of authenticity, included the geographic coordinates of the shooting location, signed and numbered.
