Magdalena Oppelt is an artist living in Germany on the Swiss border. Her painting began with realistic principles and throughout her career she has continually researched new methods and experimented with collages, fillers and materials. Magdalena Oppelt shows figurative paintings with perspective-irritating vehicles, zoomed-in shells and torsos. There are also transformed flat compositions in relief-like broken layers. She works exclusively with pure pigments. She makes her fillers from rock powder and clay from Lake Constance. She likes to incorporate sand from all over the world, which she brings back from her travels, into her work.
She gets her inspiration from car cemeteries, old buildings and when traveling.
