As far back as I can remember, I have always loved stones: big ones, small ones, white ones, brown ones, round ones, or full of rough ones. the ones that shine, or the ones that are black as night, and all those that have that special little thing, and that I absolutely have to bring home.
Result: Pockets full of treasures, deformed, with holes, and an unfortunate tendency to walk with one's nose to the ground rather than to the horizon.
Little by little, I found myself came the desire to arrange them, glue them.
I like the idea of breaking to rebuild, re-arranging differently, of having to deal with the idea that I have to deal with it. I had in mind and the constraints inherent to materials and tools.
I started with classic materials (earthenware, Briare enamels) then I needed to confront other materials: smalt, glass and stone, to learn how to use other tools.
Working on the volume was another challenge, due to the technical difficulties involved.
I also likes to play with the height of the tesserae, to see the way in which the light can be captured by certain areas, to see the play of shadows.
Currently, I combine different materials to play on contrasts: gloss glass and matte stone, but also less usual mosaic materials: slate, fossils, driftwood, rust.
Shipping: Small and medium sizes are shipped in two days . Large format mosaics are heavy and therefore require custom packaging. Shipping time may be extended by up to approximately one week.
